DOCUMENTARY Workshop

So much of documentary editing is finding out what you REALLY want to say.  This workshop helps you do what I wish every director I’ve ever worked with had done before, during and after shooting.  We will dig deep to get clear on the documentary you want to make, so you can communicate how you want to make it.


We’ll discuss structure, tone, and story, and you’ll be able to convey to investors, collaborators, your editor (especially important if it’s YOU) and more importantly your AUDIENCE what you want to say, how you want to say it.


3 hours a week - $375 a month  Current times offered:  Wednesday 1-4, Thursday 1-4, and Tuesday evening 7-10  I’m open to adding other times, so please feel free to suggest.  Email me now to book space.

DOCUMENTARY EDITING FOR DIRECTORS - ORGANIZING!

Everything you need to know about editing for Directors  especially so you can get out ahead of organizing your hard won material. 

Too many times I’ve seen wonderful material, “digitized” by cheap or free help, become an organizational and technical nightmare for the post production team. 


This workshop will give you simple tools to direct your free or cheap labor to get your materials in tip top shape for your editor (especially nice if that’s YOU.)


3 hours  $ 89 per person for groups of ten or more.



FCP TIPS AND TOOLS

HOW to WORK the MACHINE.... I will work with you, giving you exercises with your own material to get you up to speed, using all the professional tricks I use.


By the end of the class you will learn:


1)how to digitize, transcribe and organize a project for editing.

2)how to start editing.  Straight cuts, L cuts

4)Effects, fine cutting, sound, music, and montaging to music.

  1. 5)How to get useful feedback on your film, how to receive these notes.

  2. 6)Finishing:  what does it entail. How does one output to DVD or the internet.


Currently offered as one on one training @ $100 an hour.

Classes and Workshops are on going.  If you want to return to take other classes, or take all afternoon sessions, there is a 10% discount.  There is also a 10% discount if you refer a friend.  Checks and cash are accepted.  Missed classes can be made up in another class the month they are missed, but will not be refunded, or “rolled over” to later months.
